AIR CaRGO

Support Equipment

Airdrop and Logistics Cargo Systems must also be backed by reliable ground support equipment, training and after sales service.

Caravan International Corporated supplies all related support equipment:
• Aircraft structural replacement components
• Complete on-site training programs
• Cargo tie-downs and related equipment
• 10,000 lb. 463L air cargo logistics pallets
• 10,000 lb. 463L logistics trailers
• Cargo/Fighter Aircraft ground support loading equipment
• AM-2 Aluminum Portable Airfields, helipads and lighting systems
• Airborne Rigging Assembly Line (ARAL) system

ARAL is a complete and efficient rapid cargo handling platform and pallet rigging facility. This system incorporates two 100 foot roller conveyor tracks with Hydraulic Lift Weight Tables at one end to permit effective cargo manifesting of up to 150,000 kilos per day.

C-130 Cargo Platforms, Pallets, and componentssupplied by Caravan International Corporation
ADVANTAGES

  • Modular design ensures ease of logistical support and maximum adaptability to mission requirements by providing seven different platform lengths
  • Replaced both Type II and Type IV platforms in the U.S. inventory and most C-130 operators worldwide
  • Main panels are constructed of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum in a vertical web design plus an interlocking joint between panels, providing exceptional strength and resistance to bending
  • Capable of withstanding 500 G’s vertical impact and single point platform extraction of 42,000 lbs. (19,051 kg) payloads
  • Interfaces with cargo aircraft equipped with either 88 inch (223.5 cm) or 108 inch (274 cm) wide cargo handling systems (C-130, C-141, C-5, C-17, DHC-5, C-160, G-222, C-27J, CN-235, CN-295)
  • Roller pads interface with floor mounted roller conveyor systems providing additional strength while protecting the underside of the platform
  • Designed to accomodate future advances in airdrop technology

The A-22 container is an adjustable nylon cloth and webbing container used to deliver food, medicine, ammunition, supply type loads and disassembled, or ready-to-use equipment in a convenient 1 ton bundle. A-22 containers are also used to drop folded Zodiac type boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles and arctic sleds. The A-22 container consists of a sling assembly, cargo cover and four suspension webs connecting the container to the parachute. The entire bundle is attached to a plywood skidboard and uses paper honeycomb as energy dissipating material.

A-22 COMPONENTS

• Aerial Delivery Cargo Assembly
• G-12/G-14 Cargo Parachute or 22/26 ft. Ring-Slot Parachute
• 68 inch (26.7 cm) Pilot Parachute, Cover and Four Suspension

Centerline Vertical Restraining System for C-130 Aircraft

The CVR system is designed for use on the C-130 aircraft. The CVR system permits the airdrop of up to eight A-22 containers from each side of the aircraft. Each container can be rigged and airdropped in a single pass, for a total of 16 individual containers, or all eight can be airdropped simultaneously. The CVR was designed to accommodate 48-inch plywood skidboards. However, 48-inch by 53.5-inch and 48-inch by 96-inch plywood skidboards may be airdropped with the CVR installed by rotating the skidboard(s) 90 degrees to allow the 48-inch side to fit between the CVR and the aircraft dual rails. The CVR system uses the existing tiedown rings in the aircraft and provides a similar set of tiedown rings as a replacement.
