The U.S. Government standardized the T-10 as a troop personnel parachute in the early 1950's and it has been used successfully since that time with relatively few modifications. The major change to the basic canopy was made in 1976 with the addition of anti-inversion netting to the skirt. This so improved the reliability of an already very dependable parachute that many canopies already in service were retrofitted with the netting.

When packed for service, the complete assembly weighs approximately 29 pounds. The canopy has a nominal diameter of 35 feet and a projected or inflated diameter of 24.5 feet.

The deployment bag body is made from 9-ounce cotton cloth, cotton tape and webbing. A static line is attached to the deployment bag.

The body of the pack tray is made from nylon pack cloth and the components that are sewn to the body are made from nylon pack cloth and nylon webbing.
